Jimmy at age nine, during his first performance on stage in Drogheda
County Louth, Ireland. At this concert, Carton performed Silver
Threads Among The Gold, and Mother Machree.
This
is the first group Jimmy performed with (The Diamonds). The 'little
guy' in the white shirt is Jimmy. This picture was taken at the
famous Theatre Royal in Dublin, Ireland, shortly before it closed
in approximately 1960.

The showband scene strikes in Ireland. Jimmy's first showband, The
Checkmates, appeared all over Ireland from about 1961 to 1967. You'll
see Jimmy directly in the middle.

In 1968, the Maple Leaf Showband was performing all over North America
with Jimmy as lead singer.

Skip to 1985, the Jimmy Carton Band, shortly before performing his
major show headlining at the famous Massey Hall in Toronto. At right
is Derek Harrington, producer of the CD Macushla.

Taken backstage at Massey Hall, in 1985.

A personal highlight for Jimmy Carton, performing the national anthems
at Skydome, in Toronto, 1993; the last year the Blue Jays won the
world series.

Jim is supported at the launch party by two of the musicians who
performed on the CD - Derek Byrne (center), piano player extraordinaire,
and David Matheson (right), guitar and harmony vocals (formerly
of Moxy Fruvous).
