Recent ‘Doings’ for the band

Jimmy has had a pretty exciting summer so far with shows near and far. He started out with a FANTASTIC Spring Concert at McVeigh’s New Windsor Tavern in May. Anyone who didn’t attend must put the event on their calendars for next year. There has been a lot of pressure on Jimmy to do a Christmas show based on the great success of the Spring Concert - so stay tuned there. Speaking of McVeigh’s, Jimmy joined several other talented musicians to do a few songs at a Customer Reunion day at McVeigh’s in July (which coincided with a significant birthday for Jimmy Sr. :). Smitty took some great photos that he has graciously shared with us so check out the photos. After that the gang were at a private concert in a beautiful setting in Fort Erie. The sun was shining and a good time had by all. Most recently Jimmy, Derek and Albert are just back from an outstanding tour in Newfoundland. Thanks to all who hosted those shows (John Baker & Nora Tremblett, Keith Mooney, D’Arcy Broderick) and of course thanks to the one-of-a-kind audiences! Check out that album as well for photos!

Sunday, 25 July: Shamrock Festival, Ferryland (afternoon)

Sunday, 25 July: Shamrock City, St. John’s - 9 pm

Mark your calendars now for Sunday May 16 - 3:00 pm. Jimmy Carton and Derek Harrington will be reunited in concert, performing on stage together for the first time in years. Several other favourite Irish entertainers will also take the stage for an afternoon of entertainment. The day will be extra special as the ‘boys’ will be going back to where it all began - McVeigh’s New Windsor Tavern. Back in Racing Form!
After a summer of rest it’s a pleasure to report that Jimmy Carton is back in fine form. So many of you sent JC your good wishes and prayers, and for that he thanks you. So what’s next? Look for Jimmy to sing the anthems at the Hot House Cafe for the Friends of Sinn Fein on Nov 6, and then will attend the Sat. conference. Later in November he is happy to be performing at a private celebration. Stay tuned for further news!

Jimmy Is Off For Now

Some of you may have heard that immediately after Jimmy’s last gig on May 31st (that night!) he became quite ill requiring several trips to the hospital and indeed major surgery. The good news is that he is now well on the way to recovery, although he is many pounds lighter and his voice is sounding distinctly un-Jimmy-Carton-like. Jimmy is taking the summer off any kind of work to rest and recouperate. He has received many good wishes for a speedy recovery and he thanks all his fans for their thoughts and kindness.
